In the year 2000, I sold my direct marketing and printing business to my largest competitor. My wife still works there, earning commissions on the hundreds of clients we served during our 25 years in the direct response, copy and printing business. (I've also owned a restaurant, deli, bookkeeping service, and even sold Yellow Pages for a brief stint.)
I needed a change. I was tired of watching reams of paper pour out of printers and fixing jams in copy machines. Of staying up late at night stuffing envelopes, doing the books ( I have a minor degree in accounting) and putting out fires all day.
So in my semi-"retirement" I took one of these "values profiles" and quickly discovered that I had just spent the last 25 years trying to fix my weak spots and not having a clue about what my strengths were.
What I discovered truly astonished me and changed my life. The profile told me I had a keen insight into identifying business opportunities using strong creative intuition coupled with practical, common sense thinking.
And, I have a unique blend of analytical idea generation and an uncanny ability to identify the needs and interests of others.
This opened my eyes to discovering my true passion; writing.
I decided to combine the two things I do best; write copy and help people with their marketing strategies. So I launched my new company, Loyalty Marketing Institute.
Then, after I had developed a "following" of over 4,000 subscribers to my marketing newsletter, (see right column) clients began to ask me to write their direct response and web content copy , which I found to be very rewarding and fulfilling.
As I teach, in business you have to specialize. You can't do everything for everybody... or you'll end up doing very little for a very few.
I specialize in web content and sales copy writing. So I developed this website, http://webmagnet.info to begin a relationship with people just like you; people looking for persuasive, sales oriented copy and web content PLUS help with marketing strategies both offline and online.
ABOUT ALLAN
ALLAN is the former President of the Direct Marketing Association of Memphis and has presented seminars, workshops, lectures and keynotes on loyalty marketing, problem solving, idea generation and persuasive communications. He has a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing from the University of Memphis. (Go Tigers!)
He served as an adjunct professor of Continuing Education at the University of Memphis teaching The Basics Of Direct Marketing, How To Start A Mail Order Business, Marketing Your Small Business and Problem Solving.
He is an avid student of psychology, persuasion and innovation, having completed courses for certification in Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Persuasion, Sales and Innovation.
